5 Disruptive Web3 Music Projects – May 2022

Dipping your toes in the wonderful world of web3 music projects? Here are the 5 web3 music projects we selected for this month. All of them were chosen because they all aim to disrupt the “traditional” music industry. In addition, artists using these platforms benefit not only from higher royalties but also from access to a pool of collectors ready to support emerging artists.

May 2022’s Web3 Music Projects

Atlanticus Music

Atlanticus, co-built by music, technology and cultural experts, is a 360-degree marketplace that allows artists to list their music as NFTs. Not only that – Atlanticus offers artists additional freedom, as they can also share DJ sets, music videos, experiences and other music-related creations.

The Atlanticus team’s main mission is to bring NFT technology to fans. Thanks to a simple but aesthetically pleasing design, Atlanticus is an accessible platform that puts emerging artists in front of collectors willing to invest in them.

Mint Songs

Mint Songs develops tools that help artists turn their creative work into NFTs. Built on Polygon, the platform’s NFT minter allows artists to turn their music and album artworks into carbon-neutral NFTs at zero cost.

Musicians using Mint Song keep 95 percent of primary sales and 10 percent of royalties every time a fan resells that music NFT. In addition, artists can analyze their sales using the platform’s in-built analytics tool. Recently, Mint Songs launched an app that allows users to curate and display their NFT music collection via their SmartLink.

Pianity

Pianity is a music NFT platform that empowers musicians and their community to create, trade, share, mint and collect limited edition tracks. There are four scarcity levels on the platform. Artists can therefore choose the rarity of their music NFT and determine the price accordingly.

What distinguishes Pianity from other web3 music projects and NFT marketplaces is that it has a dedicated dashboard for record labels. As a result, labels can manage their artists’ NFT releases from one place and customize royalty splits.

Public Pressure

Public Pressure is a web3 music marketplace run by artists, labels, brands and superfans. Based in London, Public Pressure connects artists, labels and fans, and allows them to produce and share content through NFTs. The NFT marketplace has a sister website, publicpressure.org, which serves as a decentralised channel dedicated to NFT Hip Hop, Punk and Electronic Music, as well as LGBTQ, social and mental health issues.

BlockDown Festival

BlockDown Festival will take place between 11 and 13 May in Šibenik, Croatia. It is the world’s first NFT-enabled web3 culture festival with a special focus on the music industry. This music-focused festival will, of course, include talks, workshops and discussions by various music industry and web3 experts. In addition, there will be several parties and DJ sets, with artists such as DJs Merk and Kremont, DJ Bufalo and Seedphrase included in the lineup.
